Since this never circulated during the nostalgia hell earlier today, figured I’d mention it. This would be the earliest picture of the club, fall ’98, taken in Dey 113. I can’t put any names to faces except for people most of you still know (‘cept maybe Glenn; glasses, upper right, he fucked up my Kendo Club), but it’s inter- esting to observe that at that point in time, I didn’t know Justin, Deandra, Jennifer, Lucy, or Deandra by name. All I can tell you about anyone else is that the big guy on the far left still has my Virus Buster Serge subs. As for folks you know: Ben was still sin- gle; Deandra and Richard wouldn’t be an item for a while; Jennifer was the Flower Girl as opposed to the Great Tyrant; Erin was pres- ident; Lucy, if she had any at all, probably owned only enough dou- jinshi to fill a shoebox; and I still had a Ruri keychain hanging from my jacket.

Since then: half the people there have disappeared; Ben is married; Jennifer has become the Great Tyrant; Lucy has enough doujinshi to fill the vault of the Chemical Bank; Erin is at Comiket and scoping You Higuri’s assistant, to the intense envy of the chronicler; and the Ruri keychain has been exchanged for a little Motoko Aoyama zipper pull, or an Angelique Trois Ernst when I’m in the appropriate mood.

Ed, since some things never change, has not changed one bit.

I wonder what happened to my “Nuke Me Slowly” shirt, now that I see it again. Haven’t worn it in years.
